How do you screw in a Postech Piles?

We often receive this question on our social media accounts : how do you screw in a pile? The answer to this question is quite simple. In fact, Postech certified installers will install our Screw Piles (also known as helical piles) into the ground using calibrated excavators.

Machinery

We use excavators that are calibrated every year that allow our screw piles to be fixed into the ground without causing damage. Our excavators are calibrated to provide a verified TORQUE measurement (This measure of the force that is needed to rotate an object around its axis). We can therefore match or exceed requirement needed to support the structure. This therefore ensures maximum foundation strength for your projects.

In order to prevent movement during the freeze and thaw cycle, we install the Screw Pile under the frost line which varies depending on the city, but the national building code recommends 6 feet as a baseline. We suggest you consult your local building department for exact local information. We also leave space between the soil and the structure of 6 inches on average. This will allow the soil to swell during spring, a totally natural phenomenon. We have seen on average, the distance needed is between 6 and 18 inches. This will obviously vary according to the project and the type of ground. This distance will be calculated by our certified installers who will be able to offer their expertise on the project.
